Anyone with experiencing in configuring for Palm Tungsten E

I am trying to set up Tungsten E in Slackware 9.1 kernel 2.4.22.

I have called both usbserial and visor in lsmod. Visor showed dependency to usbserial and likewise both visor and usbserial in usbcore.

I have tried linking either /dev/pilot to both /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1

but I am getting similar response from /var/log/message when synching.

as below:

visor.c: USB HandSpring Visor, Palmm50x, Treo, Sony Clie driver v1.7
hub.c: new USB device 00:1d.1-1, assigned address 2
usbserial.c: Handspring Visor/Treo/Palm4.0/Clie 4.x Converter detected
usbserial.c: Handspring Visor/Treo/Palm4.0/Clie 4.x Converter now attached to ttyUSB0 (or usb/tts/0 for devfs)
usbserial.c: Handspring Visor/Treo/Palm4.0/Clie 4.x Converter now attached to ttyUSB1 (or usb/tts/1 for devfs)
usb.agent[2387] missing kernel or user mode driver visor

I am surprised of this last statement as I already have loaded the module for driver visor from the kernel

Kindly correct me. Thank you.

Personnaly, I'm sync'n a Tungsten E on Fedora Core 1, and it works.

here's what i've done (Source: http://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...;threadid=26091)

1.)change to su

2.)change permissions on the USB ports to allow all users access...

# chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB*

[Note: in the docs for Evolution it says to make the permissions 777, not 666.]

3.)change directory to /dev...

# cd /dev

4.)create symbolic links for different possible palm connections...

# ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1 pilot
# ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1 palm
# ln -s /dev/ttyUSB1 visor

5.) configure connection by opening Pilot Link and ...

+ in the "Devices" tab choosing ADD and setting it to connect on port: /dev/pilot, speed: 115200, type: USB.
+in the "Pilots" tab select ADD and opt for "Get From Pilot" in the popup.

6.) configure conduits to work with Evolution (in the "Conduits" tab of Pilot Link.

hope this'll help..

I spent a couple of hours dead-ended trying to get my Tungsten E to work under Mandrake 9.2, till I found this merciful page from the author of JPilot:

http://pilot-link.org/README.usb

By following the techniques he outlines in it, I got the Tungsten to work. They are general suggestions, so you wouldn't have to be a JPilot user necessarily in order for them to be helpful.
