Angry ZipSlack & LT Winmodem

Hi. I'm having some difficulty with ZipSlack.

I have this Lucent Winmodem that I'm wanting to get working under ZipSlack. Luckily, there is a driver type thing for it. The bad part is that its compile kit is being rude.

You see, it requires the kernel headers. Since I am a complete and utter I simply downloaded the kernel headers package from a Slack FTP and installed them a la installpkg.

Once I did that, the modem's compile kit acted as if my efforts hadn't happened. It looked in some common places (ie /usr/src/linux) and was unable to find them there. Apparently, these headers reside in /usr/include/linux.

Being very proud of myself, I created a symlink called linux in /usr/src which pointed to /usr/include/linux. Guess what. The compile kit still didn't register my actions.

So, I'm at a loss for what to do. Assistance would be much obliged.

Also, since I generally try to be as helpful to the people who are helping me, I'm using the standard ZipSlack kernel (2.4.22), and I will email or whatever the address of the compile kit to those who ask since this annoying BB software is preventing me from posting it.

Also, feel free to tell me that I'm a complete idiot for not having installed the kernel sources, as I strongly suspect that might be the cause of my problem but have refrained from doing so due to my impatience with download times.

I don't know exactly what is ZipSlack, but why dont you download kernel source , put it in /usr/src/linux. and recompile it.
I have the same modem and I had no problems installing it.
Just you need to download from kernel.org the latest kernel.

Also, ZipSlack is the zipped up small version of Slackware.
