Thinkpad 355c & Zipslack
I've managed to load Zipslack onto my Thinkpad 355c (a 486 with 33MHZ and no math co-processor), no CDROM, a floppy drive, a 1G HD, and one PCMCIA NIC. The machine has DOS 6.22 and Win95 on it. I did the unzip and went into the linux directory and edited the linux.bat correctly. It booted up, and even detected my Megahertz PCMCIA NIC. I was elated to see SSH and nmap in the package as well as even just running without a math co-processor. (I was never able to get old distros of FreeBSD, Redhat, or Caldera to load up due to lack of a math co-processor)
From this point, I have three immediate goals. Which should I pursue first? How?
1. Install native linux filesystem instead of UMSDOS filesystem.
(Do I need to do a fresh re-install or can I use something to partition the drive, then migrate everything over?)
2. Install ASUS wireless PCMCIA NIC WL-100
(ASUS gave me a "linux" driver on the CD but I am clueless how to get this working with zipslack)
3. Configure for X Windows capability in order to run graphical browser.
(I have an XFree86 config file for a Thinkpad 360 which is supposed to be the same LCD and videochip sets but have no idea how to get that working.)
Any tips, hints, tricks, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
