xine using xv driver with i810 (Intel driver)

I'm running Slackware 12 on a Thinkpad R51 which has an Intel Extreme graphics card (82855 GM). X is using the i810 driver for the video.

Starting xine shows the normal splash screen but the screen is GREEN and pink/purple. From reading up on this issue, the i810 driver doesn't support XVideo/YV12 overlay/etc. It's also not compatible with the XV driver that xine uses.

I'm currently using XSHM driver for xine but it's slow on some videos.

Am I just stuck with this i810 driver? Can I not get xine to work with the default xv driver?

You could try changing the "i810" driver to "intel" in xorg.conf. You may also need to to upgrade to the xf86-video-intel-2.1.0-i486-1.tgz intel driver package if you have not already. You can get xf86-video-intel-2.1.0-i486-1.tgz from the patches directory from any Slackware mirror. I was using the i810 driver, then I upgraded the driver and switched to "intel" driver. I also had problems with xine. I installed Mplayer, mplayer-plugin, and Kaffeine from slackbuilds.org and they work perfectly.
EDIT: If the newer driver gives you problems you can revert to the old driver by doing "upgradepkg --reinstall xf86-video-i810-1.7.4-i486-1.tgz". See this thread:
