xine plugin lowering PCM sound for ALSA.

Im using Slack so thought i'd post here though it could be a general linux thing...

If I am listening to music on my PC (using Amarok) if I visit a website which has a media plugin that uses XINE then the volume of the PCM in ALSA gets cut to 68 (from 100) thus lowering the volume of the music in Amarok and it stays that way until I use alsamixer to increase the volume again which is a pain.

Question is how do I either

a) stop firefox using xine to play multimedia? I have the mplayer plugin installed and it does get used for some media but not all. I thought I had deleted the xine stuff but it is still being used?

OR

b) stop xine lowering the volume whenever it is used.

OR

c) automatically reset the volume back to 100% after the xine media has finished playing without having to use alsamixer -> alsactl store etc.

Thanks in advance

you should do b)

in xine hit alt+s to get into settings, go to the audio tab and scroll down to the bottom. The second last option is "startup audio volume". You can just change this to 100% or you can chose the last option "restore volume level at startup" which will set volume to the level you had it at when you last exited xine. Hope that helps.
