I was thinking that a new version of Slackware is almost ready to launch. But I'm happy to see that XFCE 4.8 and KDE 4.6 are in the plans to new Slackware 14 or something
Thanks Robby. Works like charm. The only problem I had was that it didn't automatically generate the menu file (~/local/menus/xfce-applications.menu) but I took if from another system.

Well, there are a few "hiccups."
The panel configuration is driving me crazy as I can't get the items on the panel where I want them positioned, i.e., they all crowd to the left. I've saved the panel, but on each boot up the message appears that there is no default panel and do I to 'execute' whatever...
The panel plug-ins I like won't work and one or two other minor problems.
With all the 'junk' for policy kit, etc., that has been added it is now using about as much memory as kde (4.95) just to run the default screen (without the evil triplets, of course).
It is a holiday here and I've spent the last 4 hours tinkering with Xfce 4.8 and still can't get the desktop to where I liked it with 4.62, but, what the heck, there is the rest of the day.
