and your screen is fine elsewhere? ie: boot from a live cd (eg. knopix) or if you have a win pc, use it on that computer... (and check the settings, so that you can copy them)

No, Knoppix does not work. It's an Xorg problem, I'm pretty sure, not specifically a Slackware problem. Perhaps one of the other forums would have been more appropriate.

as far as i know knoppix does not run Xorg, but XFree

I thought they ditched XFree for Xorg in the latest release. Anyway, that's irrelevant.

what DOES work on your screen? are you sure the prob lies with the software and not the hardware?

Apparently, nothing does. I can't get anything to work with this monitor. Maybe that's why I got it for so cheap! :/

edit: windows bluescreens too
