I have to install a new system with win xp + slackware 12.2
I want to take grub as bootloader. How can I install grub in this constellation because the slackware-installroutine offers Lilo only. If I would skip Lilo, then I couldn't start slackwware....
The simply but coarse way ist clear: take & install another Linux with grub after slackware und let it install the grub in the mbr. But there should be an more elegant way... ?
You can skip the LILO installation and use the CD to boot Slackware. When you boot from the CD, it tells you how to boot your hard disk installation. Then, you can install the GRUB package in /extra and configure and install GRUB as required.
I think ( it is a long time since I did this) you can also install grub at the end of the installation process. You would have to create a mount point, mount the slackware root there, chroot there, install grub from the CD and finally configure menu.lst
An alternative ( and probably simpler approach ) is to install lilo as per the default and install grub later.
