Why isn't my CDRW auto mounting?

I have my CDRW being sensed as a SCSI device and I can mount it manually just fine, but it doesn't auto mount.

My CDRW used to be hdd but now it is scd0. Therfore I have this in my /etc/fstab file

/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrw iso9660 auto,ro 0 0

I dont think you can mount it automatically. Its a removable drive.

If you are use to Mandrake doing that, thats SUPERMOUNT, which doesnt really work in Slackware.

That sucks, oh well not a big deal. But let me ask you this. Is it correct to mount the drive as ro even though it is a CDRW? Would mounting it as ro prevent me from creating and burning ISOs to this drive?

Yes, its right to mount it as RO. You arent constantly writing to it normally, so it doesnt need write support. You need a 3rd party program.
