Although, the next release possibly more than a year away, don't hang onto anything it will be any specific number, other than what Patrick deems fitting.

That could be quite contentious. There are people who feel that Columbus arriving to America -- and the events that took place afterward -- should not be celebrated.
Plus, that is a very American-centric date, and Slackware is international.

Actually the discovery of North America was not geared towards America only. It was the discovery and confirmation of science and exploration that the world was round going back to ancient Greece.

People already knew the Earth was round a long time before that, but they weren't aware of the size of the Earth. Either way, with all the bad that some associate with Columbus and 1492, and its common association with only the discovery of America, I don't think it would make a good version number (but who cares what I think).

Anyways, one idea behind suggesting "14.92" would be newcomers "Discovering Slackware and/or Linux".
Since Slackware 10.0 (released in 2004), all major releases except for one have had 2 additional incremental releases. The only one that didn't, was 11.0, which was the only release in the 11.x series.
