vlc or other video and disabling the screensaver 13.1
Let me just start off saying that there are no issues with the screensaver, and I'm quite fond of KDE. I've been reading other threads that have been flaming KDE screensaver in favor of Xscreensaver, and I'd really like to stay with the KDE implementation.
With that said, I'm looking for some commands (so that I can write a bash script) that will disable and re-enable the screensaver so I can play videos without having to hit the mouse every 10 minutes or so. Right now I'm just using the KDE system settings interface, but it would be nice to have a little script that I could pipe into an alias with VLC, etc.
Does VLC disable screensaver by default when you play video?
Sometimes, VLC does not play good on some of my movies so I used MPlayer. Screensaver activates every 10 minutes or so.
So the next time I used MPlayer, I run (I don't know if it is Klicky or what) an auto clicker program from KDE and configure to click at certain interval.
In my experience, alien's VLC build on 13.1 correctly disables the screensaver (so the movie plays without the screen turning off for the whole length).
At the same time, xine (more precisely, dragonplayer), does not disable the screensaver, and I have to move the mouse periodically.
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that option in VLC. Is there a command just to disable the screensaver though? Sometimes I play longer flash videos online and the screensaver definitely kicks in then.
Oh, and while I'm on the topic of flash, have the slack64 13.1ers found a better way to use flash than Adobe's alpha lab testing thingie? (This may be the topic of another forum, I'm just kind of curious if there was an update or something that I wasn't aware of).

I am currently (re)building gnash 0.8.8 which supposedly works pretty well nowadays, but I am not all that excited about it. It still does not show any modern flash based site. Current rebuild is to try and fix the "won't play youtube videos" issue.
And next on the list to try is lightspark, another open source flash implementation. Only recently have they moved away from explicitly requiring pulseaudio. I want to see if I can build it now with alsa sound support... and to see if it actually works.
