VLC Media Player not running properly

VLC from Eric worked fine yesterday. After today's updates the app opens, I can select a file to play and then I have a black screen and nothing plays. If I move the mouse the control box appears ( with the pause, stop buttons etc.). The I hit esc to drop out of full screen and I can't exit the app. Ctrl-Q does not work either. I have to ps -ef and kill the vlc process. Sooo, thinking that maybe I could build the same version from SBo I fired up the latest slpkg and told it to build vlc. After a couple of coughs building the large number of pre-reqsuisites (some I built manually using Ponces updated slackbuilds) I finally got that out of the way and tried to build VLC itself using Ponces SlackBuild. That died too. I have plenty of other players available to entertain me but I've gotten rather used to VLC and would like it to run. Does Alien's last VLC run on -current64 for others after the updates of 13.4.2023? Maybe it's the 13

Works fine here with Alien's vlc-3.0.17.4 and latest -current64 upgrades (Thu Apr 13 22:25:18)

Are you using pipewire? Try re-enabling it, if so? There were some config changes. (You'll need to remove the old media server xdg file in /etc/xdg/autostart.)

Thank you both for the responses. garpu it appears it was the pipewire. Got rid of the old stuff in xdg and now it is singing away.
