version.h not found installing fglrx

I tried to install fglrx folowing the sovietpower's guide, but I have this little problem: when I launch make.sh I get this error

Code:
root@Seth:/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod# ./make.sh
ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
kernel includes at /lib/modules/2.6.7/build/include not found or incomplete
file: /lib/modules/2.6.7/build/include/linux/version.h
the file /lib/modules/2.6.7/build/include/linux/version.h is really missing

I'm using slack 10.0 "as is" (clean install) with kernel 2.6.7 from the testing folder on the cdrom.

I installed all from the linux-2.6.7 folder, including the kernel-headers packages, "ignoring" the kernel-headers.WARNING file in the folder.

Do I need to recompile myself the kernel?

No, just install kernel-source package for kernel 2.6.7 and if it is already installed, try to make the driver installer point to /usr/src/linux/include

This build subdirectory is a link to your kernel-source-directory. In slackware you probably will have a /usr/src/kernel-2.6.7 where the source could be installed. If you don't have it, find the kernel-headers package for the 2.6.7 or in a slackware ftp mirror. Then, enter
Code:
ln -s /usr/src/kernel-2.6.7 /lib/modules/2.6.7

Please do not follow the above advice.

When you compile 2.6.7 kernel, make modules_install will install modules and header files accordingly to your config in /lib/modules/2.6.7 following a directory hierarchy.

If you link the kernel source to /lib/modules/2.6.7 you break the directory hierarchy, the modules are not in where they are supposed to be and modprobe won't be able to load modules no more.

Forgive me. The correct link is
Code:
ln -s /usr/src/kernel-2.6.7 /lib/modules/2.6.7/build

It is better I just correct the name for kernel directory :
ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.6.7 /lib/modules/build
But I guess the link is already created by installing kernel-modules and kernel-source packages.

maybe this link wasn't created because I'm using kernel sources from kernel.org, not from the slack package .. I will try in few time, now I have no free time.

Thanks to all in any case for the help .. this forum really ROCKS!
