/usr/bin/skype: No such file or directory
I've installed skype after installing Alien Bob's multilib packages.
When I run '
skype ' I get the following error:
Code:
bash: /usr/bin/skype: No such file or directory
The command '
ldd /usr/bin/skype ' gives this:
Code:
not a dynamic executable
also:
Code:
#ls -l /usr/bin/skype
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 36499124 May 22 2014 /usr/bin/skype
How should I repair it?

That is weird. The last line looks exactly like it does on my machine with the correct file size. However ldd should give output for skype. My feeling is that something in your path is messed up. What is the output of
1) whereis skype
2) echo $PATH

Maybe the output of following commands could give us a clue:
Code:
file /usr/bin/skype
stat /usr/bin/skype

These are non-multilib glibc packages. I guess you have upgraded your system and the multilib-glibc packages have been overwritten by non-multlilib counterparts during this update.

I didn't upgrade after installing multilib.
I have a question about this output.
Why didn't it show more information about files. and Just shown their location?

For clarity....it was the correct answer. Your output should have been the one below.
Code:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 571752 Feb 7 2015 /var/log/packages/glibc-2.17_multilib-x86_64-10alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2289 Feb 7 2015 /var/log/packages/glibc-debug-2.17_multilib-x86_64-10alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 473872 Feb 7 2015 /var/log/packages/glibc-i18n-2.17_multilib-x86_64-10alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1305 Feb 7 2015 /var/log/packages/glibc-profile-2.17_multilib-x86_64-10alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15534 Feb 7 2015 /var/log/packages/glibc-solibs-2.17_multilib-x86_64-10alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 70266 Nov 5 10:43 /var/log/packages/glibc-zoneinfo-2015g_multilib-noarch-1alien
In other words your multilib hasn't been installed correctly.

after installing alien bob multi-lib on slackware64-14-1 and then installing
sbopkg and then run sbopkg and then select sync. install
Code:
speex
json-c
pulseaudio
then install skype.
You will have no problems. you will not be able to use voice though . That is another thread.
sbopkg will warn about skype and building on a 64 bit system just select yes and build the package
and install it.

Drakeo, I've installed skype using slpkg , and it installed the dependencies. Of course I didn't know why it says 'UNSUPPORTED ' about skype. I intstalled skype using slackbuild manually.

phenixia2003, I found that the glibc-multilib packages didn't install, However I didn't know the reason. I found that they are in upgrade list as the 'slackpkg search glibc' gave this output:
Code:
[ Status ] [ Repository ] [ Package ]
installed glibc-2.17-x86_64-10_slack14.1
installed glibc-i18n-2.17-x86_64-10_slack14.1
installed glibc-profile-2.17-x86_64-10_slack14.1
installed glibc-solibs-2.17-x86_64-10_slack14.1
installed glibc-zoneinfo-2015g-noarch-1_slack14.1
