Upgrade PHP

I have a server with PHP 4.3.9 (Slackware 10.0 default). What is the best way to upgrade to 4.3.10?

Can I use the 4.3.10 package from Slackware 10.1?

You can use SwareT to download and check for dependencies. I'm not quite sure if the latest PHP needs other dependencies to run, but just in case. You could also uninstallpkg your old PHP and installpkg the new one from 10.1

I would think the best is upgrade apache + php + mysql
and eventually upgrade slackware 10.0 to 10.1

Hm, I think I'll wait until I upgrade the server to 10.1...

But why haven't PHP 4.3.10 become available as a patch to Slack 10.0? PHP 4.3.9 is a security threat, isn't it?

I just upgraded PHP to 4.3.10 using the slack 10.1 package, and it works excellent.

EDIT: Also upgraded MySQL, and it works perfectly.

objorkum, id didn't become a patch because you could download it yourself and install it if you thought it was a security threat. I can also call ssh a security threat, still I cannot convince people not to use it. it's just the way it goes
