uninstalled DLG, pidgin and firefox do not work

The other night i decided i wanted to give DLG a try. So downloaded the installer and went at it. Install went fine. I start X in runlevel 3. I setup GLMatrix to be my screen saver like i did in kde. left my PC to come back to a frozen PC. After a long investigation i found that after the install of DLG something happened that caused my FPS to drop. I have an ATI card and use the closed driver, 7.12. I know you never use glxgears or fgl_glxgears as a bench mark but before i had installed DLG i had finished installing the new ati 7.12 drivers. i check it to see that it is at least performing correctly. before DLG i did get over 2000 FPS using fgl_glxgears and after less than 100. When to dropline's IRC and a few people helped me out but the opinion was that there is nothing in DLG that would have caused this. So i tried rebuilding my ATI driver since i've installed a huge new package, but that didn't change anything. It was also recommended that i upgrade my libx11 to 1.1.2, which i did and that also made no change.

So i decided to uninstall DLG. Hoping that once i did, that my system would return to the state that it was before the install. Unfortunately it didn't. I did follow the steps exactly that can be found on DLG website on uninstalling.

Now, after the install, firefox and pidgin (only ones i've noticed so far) do not work. What i mean by that, is the program loads fine but Firefox says that the page cannot be found and pidgin says that it cannot connect. I am on that very same machine right now just using Konqueror to post this. I've tried removing both packages and then installing them again, i've tried upgrading them to the latest package from packages.slackware.it and still a no go.

I know that a reinstall is probably the best way to go, but i feel that this can be fixed with out one... well at least the firefox and pidgin issue. So before the reinstall i'd like to try and learn how to fix this if anyone is willing to help

Well now that i feel like and idiot, i got it working.

Quote:
5. Carefully examine any backup configuration files in /etc/. For instance... There is a login.defs-dl-backup (for Shadow) and nsswitch.conf-dl-backup (for Avahi) that should be moved back over the originals if you are reverting back to a stock Slackware system. You can also remove the /etc/dropline directory and /var/cache/dropline-installer.
so mozilla, pidgin and xchat all work now.

fglrx is still a POS though. anyone have any idea's on that?

Hey, Agentc0re why don't you try turning your vertical refresh off in the ati CCC.

I love solving my own problems!

I should post to myself more often
