Question Unable to authenticate/execute the action (Code 4) KDE 4.8.5 Slackware 14 RC2 32 bit

When I try to do some actions from KDE in System Settings (e.g. auto login of my user "eduardo" without password) and I click Apply, the system ask me for root password and after try 3 times I get the message:

Code:
Unable to authenticate/execute the action (Code 4)
I'm using Slackware (current) 14 RC2 32 bit and KDE 4.8.5. The password is correct because I can start root session in terminal and kdesu also accept it. For now I can work with:

Code:
$ kdesu systemsettings
or whatever app.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

This could be a keyboard layout problem.

I would check that in KDE settings - I can't say where/how though as I don't use KDE that much.

In addition, if not already done I would do this as root:

Code:
cp /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-keyboard-layout.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
Then edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-keyboard-layout.conf to replace "us" by your locale in following line:
Code:
	Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Then restart X or reboot.

I frequently toggle the keyboard layout between Spanish and English from KDE system settings, anyway I tried what you say but still not working.

Thanks.
