Is it true that you have to be connected to the 'net to install Slack?
Reason: not because I'm a skinflint, but because i must access internet on some other computer.
thanks

PS maybe it was debian or gentoo... I was doing some distro research.

If you have burnt a cd, most stuff is there you'll have to get the kernel sources from the 'net, though... but I installed just fine without a net connection (luckily, 'cuz I can't get my onboard lan to work (nforce))

Hey, cool it, kater... I just answered his question, and - as an afterthought - explained the point he was confused about.
The Slackware forum can be used for comparison of Slack and other distro's, right? I wasn't aware that this was a congregation of fanboys? I'm quite convinced that Slack is a very good distro, but so is Gentoo... in its own way.
Hey dryhte: Check Nvidias website. They have a whole driver package for the Nforce chipset, that gets every part (including LAN) to work. Its real easy to install (ive heard).
dude, kater... temper, temper
all I wanted was to ask a question, and explaining that It might of been DEBIAN or GENTOO (oh no! I said those other distros! ) It might help other browsers.
