Using GRUB_TERMINAL=console nothing works, and I think this is the problem, unless you're telling me you are also using GRUB_TERMINAL=console
and using vga= the console font size changes when you boot the kernel?

YEAH I got it! WoOT

Needed to just have a GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX= line and #GRUB_GFXMODE= is commented out...

# If you change this file, run grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
# afterwards to update /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false
GRUB_TIMEOUT=30
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=$( sed 's/Slackware /Slackware-/' /etc/slackware-version )
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="rootfstype=ext4"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

# Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only)
GRUB_TERMINAL=console

# The resolution used on graphical terminal
# note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE
# you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
#GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080x32
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=1920x1080x32

# Font used on the graphical terminal:
#GRUB_FONT=/usr/share/grub/dejavusansmono.pf2

# Uncomment if you don't want GRUB to pass "root=UUID=xxx" parameter to Linux
#GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true

# Uncomment to disable generation of recovery mode menu entries
#GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true"

THANKS batman23 for all your time and help!

cool

I just tried this too. It works

Can you post "hwinfo --framebuffer"?

Here is mine. I don't get the 1080p resolution with the 8800 GT. Just curious if the output of this command results in the mode for you. I know you already stated it worked. Just verify the output of hwinfo.

I don't have hwinfo installed, who rather not, I don't have need for it and it's dependancy...

http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14...?search=hwinfo

Hey it's all good, got it, and I'm happy...

Thanks again!
