Unhappy UEFI quick-booting to Windows 8 instead of Ubuntu Gnome's GRUB.

To access Ubuntu Gnome, I must go through Windows (8), shift+RESTART, and then select 'Select Boot Device' (or something like that) and then select 'ubuntu'. Is there any way to make UEFI boot to GRUB instead of straight to Windows?

This was the analysis boot-repair gave of my system:

Hi: & Welcome to Linux Questions.

Next time you have Ubuntu up and running try updating Grub. That should help.

Use the terminal and as root run:
Code:
sudo update-grub
That should put your Windows os and your Ubuntu Linux in the same Grub Menu.
That way you could use the arrow keys to boot which ever os you want.

If that doesn't help try these 2 articles on UEFI Booting and Ubuntu:

I get the feeling it is this.

"“The UEFI boot manager is a firmware policy engine that can be configured by modifying architecturally defined global NVRAM variables. The boot manager will attempt to load UEFI drivers and UEFI applications (including UEFI OS boot loaders) in an order defined by the global NVRAM variables.”"

Boot into Ubuntu, and use efibootmgr to change the boot order. Read the manpage.
