tty blocked for input after shutting down X

Hello,

I've a weird Problem with my fresh Slackware 9.0 install:
After logging in, issuing a "startx" and then shutting it down renders the particular console useless. More precisely, i dont see any characters i type in, not even newlines (but commands still can be executed, blindly).

For example, successive pressing the enter-button produces a mess of prompts in the same line:
tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost: tar@localhost:

and so on.

My first thought was that it could be a prob with the framebuffer, so i switched it off and to "normal" in lilo, but that wouldn help.

Does somebody have an idea of how i could solve this one, its really nerving.

Thanks in advance,
tar.bz2

Hello rotvogel,

tset/reset was exactly the command i was looking for.
I've still to find a script or something similar where i can put it it so it can get executed automatically after x is shut down.

thanks,
