transcode takes too long

hi

i've download dv files (raw format) from camcoder and try to convert it to DVD using transcode. The dv file size is 831 mb (5 min of video) but it takes too long for transcode to convert it. At the moment transcode already running for 2 1/2 hours and still running. Is it normal?? Just image if i want to convert 60 min of dv files....it will be nightmare i guest.

i'am using this cmd :

" transcode -i nazmin1999.11.30_00-00-00.dv dv,null -w 7500 --encode_fields b -F 8 -Z 720x576 --export_prof dvd-pal -o outputfile"

My hardware :

P4 1.6 Ghz
512 MB RAM

Yes, it's normal. Now you know why people want the biggest fastest 64-bit CPU they can afford.

I've had video encoding projects run for days. Just transcoding a DVD on my AMD64 3200+ will take about 8 hours.

Video processing takes considerable patience. You quickly learn to run test samples first to insure that the encode will run as you expect. There's nothing more annoying that encoding for two days to find out the aspect ratio was wrong...
