is possible to disable it use "nomodeset" as a kernel append in lilo.conf,
but Xorg will not work at all on intel (and some ati) chips if you do that.

I thought: if I do the nomodeset thing, as my CPU is intel, then according to the text, I won't be able to run X. Your words, however, made see the text merely says "not work at all on
intel chips.
What chip is he speaking about, said I. Which forced meto read from a bit above in the text. The graphics chip or graphics processor!!! And may be I do not have an Intel GPU!
It seems I don't. For I did the nomodeset trick and now my worries are all gone. Thanks once again.
P.S.: But what if I had had an Intel GPU? Eh??? I see all this as willingness to annoy simple people like me, who is happy just writing their tiny programs and do not give a xxxx about the web and multimedia (save to get in touch with people from LQ, which I can do by other means).
