Just a quick heads-up: I discovered yesterday that the nvidia kernel module may fail to build on kernel 5.17-rc1.
Joanbm on github has developed a patch for nvidia-470. This patch worked for me on nvidia-legacy304, so I would assume that it will be needed for all the other legacy versions, as well.

A slightly modified version of this patch (patching nv-procfs.h instead of nv-procfs-utils.h) works with legacy 390.147 as well.
The patch is NOT needed for the new 510.xx beta driver.

Added a new daemon, nvidia-powerd, to provide support for the Dynamic Boost feature on supported systems. Dynamic Boost balances power between the CPU and the GPU for improved performance. For more details, see the "Dynamic Boost on Linux" chapter in the README.
However, it requires systemd so presumably will not work on Slackware:
As an FYI, I have an Asus Rog widescreen display that has G-Sync. I have to disable G-Sync in Nvidia or I get some odd flickering and delay with mouse movement and typing. Run this as root to disable G-Sync is you encounter this issue.
