Linux 5.4.239
From: Greg Kroah-Hartman
Date: Thu Mar 30 2023 - 09:10:00 EST
I'm announcing the release of the 5.4.239 kernel.
It just fixes up a permission of one file,
tools/testing/selftests/net/fib_tests.sh, if you don't have an issue with this
specific testing file, no need to upgrade.............
Hi, I am on -current, AMD 7 7700X with 6750 XT GPU and experience some stuttering and freezing, now 6.1.19 -> 6.1.21, didn't help much.
When will the 6.2.x kernel be available in the official current pkgs stream, or any simple HOWTO on how to compile it by myself?
Is it this simple to get 6.2.9? Please talk to me like I am blond.
I have a working backup kernel so no harm done.

mv kernel-configs/config-generic-6.1.21.x64 kernel-configs/config-generic-6.2.9.x64
sh kernel-source.SlackBuild
upgradepkg --install-new /tmp/kernel-source-6.2.9.txz
sh kernel-generic.SlackBuild && upgradepkg /tmp/kernel-generic-6.2.9.txz
sh kernel-headers.SlackBuild && upgradepkg /tmp/kernel-headers-6.2.9.txz
sh kernel-modules.SlackBuild && upgradepkg /tmp/kernel-modules-6.2.9.txz
cd /boot
mkinitrd -c -k 6.2.9 -m ext4
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
shutdown -r now

Feel free to open a new thread, to leave this one clean and clear
Once I've downloaded the kernel tarball and moved it to, /usr/src
I skip down to the line,
"Extract the tarball if everything checked out:"
and start from there.

This is new system: AMD 7 7700X was released less year ago (https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-7700x ) so pdobably is using elilo but OP should check this. Skip system.map step.
This is pretty old howto?
Heh, wouldn't this pertain to everybody publishing information about kernel stability after 5s of running new kernel
I don't remember someone publishing something about stability
Those guys at kernel.org take care of stability
Here, it's just about compiling and running feedback, basically exactly what Greg KH expects from end-users (and also probably Mr. Volkerding)

If you run the mkinitrd command with -c (clear) option it wont be so simple...
If you want try SBKS from my signature , but first install zenity from SBo.

Nothing can be said about kernel after few minutes of using it. Be it one day. In fact this thread is good proof of this as after ethusiastic "Runs fine" someone on this forum did find an issue. So basically this is not informative although harmless.
If I remember correctly, moving to 6 series was delayed because of some issues not picked up here but by Mr. Volkerding or someone else but NOT by this thread publishers. For most part, aside from @cwizardone work, this is pretty useless thread because "Run fine" is just not cutting it. I don't know how Greg KH got involved in this thread but this is funny.
If this kind of white noise is allowed in this thread so should be request for help.

This is what you called "useless" and "funny", for an RC release for example:
And this is the same for stable & LTS release
I never said Greg KH was reading this thread, but the "build&running" is useful information for him as well for a "next" kernel package in Slackware
