The individual commit messages on these reverts make interesting reading. Not only are the UMN guys morally dubious for trying to push malicious patches into the kernel in this "research project", but many of the patches they submitted that they claim were not part of that project but were supposedly good faith fixes are bad, broken, or just unneeded. Really doesn't reflect well on UMN's Comp Sci programme, does it?

Year 2021, Round 31.
Another batch of updates has been scheduled for release on Friday, 7 May 2021, at approximately 11:00, GMT. If no problems are found while testing the release candidates, they might be available sometime on Thursday (depending on your time zone).
kernel 5.12.2 works with Slackware-14.2 gcc 5.3 - that is not updated Slackware-14.2. Obviously this means that any kernel from 5.12.x series will work.
In fact unless kernel gcc requirements exceeds gcc 5.3 requirements any future kernel build will be succesful in Slackware-14.2 without or with updates.

FWIW, the 5.13-rc1 kernel has been built and installed on this box and so far, so good.
The Nvidia-465.27 driver would not build, but the nouveau driver is working perfectly, but, then,
I'm not a "gamer."
I haven't tried the latest "stable" Virtualbox release, but test build-6.1.21-144078 is working
as it should.
As I said, so far, so good.
