I hope QT4 will continue to be part of Slackware, like GTK1, GTK2, GTK3... There are programs that depend on it and it is quite time-consuming to compile.

It would be good to compile a list of programs that do not have support for Qt5, only for Qt4, and that are still relevant. And a Qt4 package could always be made available from one of my repositories and added to slackbuilds.org as a script.
i request some day ago , qt5ct and qt5styleplugins , thats people need to config qt5 aspect , Font size , themes and other things.
for the moment can add using slackbuilds.
Not everything you need should be part of the core distribution. Qt5 applications will respect and adopt the configuration of the Desktop Environment. If you use a Window Manager or an old Desktop Environment that does not interact well with Qt5 based applications, you can for instance set the environment variable "XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE" and use the Plasma5 systemsettings5 to configure your environment. The XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP variable is something you can define in the Window manager startup while the theming/fonts/icons only have to be set once in systemsetting5.

Well I will have to revisit that then because clipgrab is clearly not respecting my LXDE color theme, and I remember posting about this annoyance a while back - clipgrab is just one of many that do not respect my color scheme, Firefox, Brave, thunderbird, VLC etc anything at this point that uses this toolkit.

you think all people go install plasma , but some others install xfce , or another desktop ,
that works under all desktops?
If a variable can unify aspect desktop/apps , then no need qt5ct , but extra styles ?

IIRC kchmviewer (available in SBo) could be built only in qt4 now. I think it's incompatible with QtWebKit or something.

The kchmviewer 7.7 sources can be built against qt5-webkit and thus removes the qt4 dependency. Of course, Pat would then have to add qt5-webkit to Slackware too.
