swaret configuration problems

(short summary - is it normal to have to install googleearth and wengophone in order to download Ktorrent?)

So I recently installed and configured swaret. This happens every time:

### Fetching 'slacky.eu' Libraries List File... FAILED!

Does this even matter? I can't find a repository with a goddamn library list. Is this a discontinued practice anymore? The only library list I found was for Slackware 10.0.

Which leads me to my second question:

For example, when installing KTorrent, Swaret checks to see if I have all the libraries I need. It then comes up with a whole slew of missing libraries. Instead of installing the actual libraries, it offers to install applications, which include GoogleEarth and Wengophone. Is this normal? If so, then both questions are solved I suppose.

On a side note - swaret isn't maintained anymore. Even still, it seems to be pretty popular. Are there any other options out there that are at least still looked after by a team of dedicated volunteers from all over the world?

My advice is: forget swaret, and do your own research into dependencies. IMO, swaret goes against the basic principle of Slackware, which is to use your own independent brain.
What you describe is total madness. Welcome to dependency hell.
The problem with a lot of the slacky.eu at present is that they have Gnome dependencies because the package builders have installed Gnome-slacky. That makes these packages useless for vanilla Slackware. Better would be to use the SlackBuild scripts and build the packages from their sources. Look at http://slackbuilds.org/ for an extensive collection of build scripts - and slacky.eu provides sources and a SlackBuild script too with all their packages.

Ktorrent is actually included with Slackware in the /extra directory so you really don't even need to build it.

Other choice that comes in the slackware extra directory could be slackpkg that look for updated stuff and install it in to your computer...
