ssh display problem

I'm trying to log on to my computer at work from home using ssh.

I can log in fine, but I can't get apps to open outside of the terminal window. When I login to the remote system and do echo $DISPLAY it comes up blank.
I know I'm supposed to do something to my .bash* config files, but as far as I can tell I don't have any. Do I need to generate them? Or do I need to make changes on the remote host?

Uncomment the following lines in /etc/ssh/sshd_config on remote system (host).

X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10
X11UseLocalhost yes

From local machine (client) log in with: ssh -X <remote sytem>
Now you should be able to open X apps.
---------------

I think you can avoid using -X if you uncomment these lines in /etc/ssh/ssh_config on local machine (client)

# ForwardAgent yes
# ForwardX11 yes

Thanks! All I needed to do was add the two lines to my own ssh_config and it worked fine! Now I don't need to drag myself to work on the weekend!!!
