ok so i now have a box with two cards and monitors running kde but it appears to be two seperate instances of X. How can i spread the one X session accross the two monitors.

Ive looked about and it appears that Xinerama is the way forward but i cant compile the package cause it said the following about xproto in the compilation so i DL'd and ran a
./configure && make install
then added it to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH path

now i get the following

checking for xproto x11 xext... Package x11 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `x11.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'x11' found

configure: error: Library requirements (xproto x11 xext) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

where do i get the x11 from because i have Xorg up and running no probs as mentioned. I'm a bit confused.

I don't know how to use it, but libXinerama comes already with X11 base package so you don't have to compile your own if you don't want to.

Edit: just found this: /usr/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/Xinerama-HOWTO if you made a full install you must have this file too.

ln -s libXinerama.so.1 libXinerama.so
