hello all,
i just re-compiled 2.4.26 to 2.4.26 only (slackware 10.0.)
Now the problem is that even when i did not touched the "sound' section during compilation, when i'm starting my system in the newly compiled one.....its throwing error for /dev/dsp.
moreover its not showing any sound card information in system-->info center.
i compared the two configs ( of the older one and the newly compiled one ),
amazingly there is difference among them in the "sound" section
but why it happened when i didn't touched the sound section. And what should i do to get out of here...?
Reinstall the alsa-driver package for 2.4.26 that comes with Slackware 10.0. Rebuilding a kernel tends to delete any old modules for that kernel version that existed on your system.
You should be able to get away with just reinstalling the alsa-driver package that came with 10.0 if the kernel versions match. If not, you can use the SlackBuild's and source (found on CD 3 or your local Slackware ftp mirror) to build a new alsa-driver package for your kernel.
