slapt-get searches not only package names, but locations (such as /a/), and descriptions. If you are want to just see the package name return, you can use --search ^name for specific package name matches. See regex(7) for more.

You're getting access to the official Slackware (10.2) packages and patches, with the exception of other categories like 'Extra' for example. To enable that you would need a line similar to the one below in your /etc/slapt-get/slapt-getrc file:

At least, I think that's right.
