Slackware 14 wireless problems

Okay so I decided to install slackware 14. The install went fine and everything. I'm just stuck on the wireless part. I have no idea how to connect the wlan0 to wpa2. Ive read I don't know how many things across the internet read I don't know how many wikis. They was all just mumbo jumbo garbage that didn't tell me crap.

I'm quite frustrated at this point after 12 straight hours of complete failure.

Anyhelp anyone could give me would be absolutely nice.

Thanks.

The first step is to determine what kind of wireless chipset your computer has and whether or not it is functioning.

This thread will tell you how to do that and point you to various other resources that will help:

When you determine the chipset, post it back here, along with the make/model of the computer.

If your wireless device is working, then you need to tell us whether you want to make a permanent connection at boot or whether you want to use a client program (wicd or NetworkManager)to make connections as required.
For further information, these may help

And the type of computer is a HP 2000 Notebook.

I'm pretty sure my device is working. Because It's worked well on plenty of other distros. I've installed around 5 or so on this computer just experiementing around and the wireless all seemed to work correctly.
I'm not sure if it just doesn't wanna connect for some reason or I'm not doing it right.
And I'd like to make a permanent connect at boot.

Easy.

1. Run nm-applet.

2. Enter SSID.

3. Enter passphrase.

4. Click "connect".

5. Give it a few seconds to connect.

6. Bask in internet-connected glory.

The only caveat: /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager must be executable and running. If it isn't executable, make it so, then run
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager start
Then do steps 1 to 6 above. You might add in a 7th step: Have one of your kids bring you a beer from the fridge.

Install wicd, run wicd-curses as root in terminal, select your wireless network in the list, right arrow and enter your wpa2 Preshared key, F10 and q to quit. Then run wicd-curses as your normal user, select your network and enter to get an IP address.

Is supported by the ath9k module which is included in the kernel. I would second the suggestion for using networkmanager, rkelsen's post should get it up and running with that, but it's really up to you of course.
