Question Slackware-13.37, everything is commented out in rc.modules, confused

Okay, so I just installed slack 13.37. I was poking around a little and I noticed that I have all these modules loaded... yet when I open up /etc/rc.d/rc.modules almost everything is commented out. I'm very confused here... how are these modules being loaded at boot time?

udev loads most modules. If it doesn't load one you need, you can uncomment it in rc.modules to have it loaded. Otherwise you don't need rc.modules.

Udev probes hardware at boot and loads should load the right modules.if you read the comments in rc.modules it should point that out.

Other members have pointed out 'udev' but I will refer you to two good references: SlackwareŽ Essentials & SlackwareŽ Basics.
The above links will help you in the future.

The sticky 'So you want to be a Slacker! What do I do next?' contains loads of information that is continually updated.

Another useful resource would be 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links! In Devices section you will find links to help you to understand 'udev'.

FYI: I suggest that you look at 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' so in the future your queries provide information that will aid us in diagnosis of the problem or query.

HTH!
