Slackware 12 RC1 compile ndiswrapper problem

I am testing Slackware 12 RC1 kernel huge-2.6.21.5 and have to run ndiswrapper on this box for my network card. I compile and install ndiswrapper 1.38 and all goes well. However when i try to modprobe ndiswrapper i am getting

Code:
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.21.5/misc/ndiswrapper.ko): Invalid module format
dmesg shows this :

Code:
ndiswrapper: version magic '2.6.21.5-smp SMP mod_unload 686 ' should be '2.6.21.5 mod_unload 486'.
It seems that the compile is getting the wrong kernel version string for ndiswrapper. Not sure what to do now so any help is appreciated.

If you run a non-SMP kernel and want to use the kernel source in /usr/src/ you have to read this bit of text from the ChangeLog.txt first:

Quote:
extra/linux-2.6.21.5-nosmp-sdk/: Upgraded the kit to transform the Linux
kernel sources in /usr/src/linux/ from SMP to non-SMP without having to
recompile them. NOTE: it is probably best to use the SMP kernel even in
a single processor machine if it will run. The non-SMP kernels should
really be used only in machines that are not at least a Pentium-Pro, or
that (for some other reason) will not properly run the SMP kernel.
This might be what you're up against.

Thanks for the info. I must have missed that bit when reading the ChangeLog - oops sorry !!

Anyway, I have switched to an smp kernel and the compilation works fine. Will look into the linux-2.6.21.5-nosmp-sdk later. Thanks again for the pointers...
