Slackware 12.2 no sound

Hello,

Just did a fresh Slackware 12.2 install and I have no sound. I ran alsaconf and it finds my soundcard and it seemed to put things in place:

Code:
root@Iggy:~# lsmod | grep snd*
snd_seq_midi 10016 0
snd_emu10k1_synth 10240 0
snd_emux_synth 35840 1 snd_emu10k1_synth
snd_seq_virmidi 9216 1 snd_emux_synth
snd_seq_midi_emul 9984 1 snd_emux_synth
snd_seq_dummy 6788 0
snd_seq_oss 33408 0
snd_seq_midi_event 10240 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_oss

snd_pcm_oss 40480 0
snd_mixer_oss 17920 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_emu10k1 140352 1 snd_emu10k1_synth
snd_hda_intel 367756 0
snd_rawmidi 22688 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec 101412 1 snd_emu10k1

snd_timer 23176 3 snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 11400 3 snd_emu10k1,snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm
snd_hwdep 10756 3 snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1,snd_hda_intel
snd 51748 14 snd_emux_synth,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_emu10k1,snd_hda_intel,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_hwdep
soundcore 10080 1 snd
When I try and run any kind of sound in firefox it results in a browser lock up. I also get a sound error when KDE starts.

Any ideas?

Forgot to add its a Creative Audigy platinium 2 sound card.

After running alsaconf did you run alsamixer and unmute sound? Did you run alsactl store?

Yes I did. For some reason it seems to only want to deal with the sound on my HDMI. I don't really understand what's going on, been a loooooong time since I have had to worry about anything to do with sound.

Thanks for the reply!

Nice. Yeah, the 2.6.29.2 kernel works well indeed. Glad you got it working.

Why don't you try Open Sound System? Your Sound Blaster is well supported
by this driver.

OSS was depreciated in favor of ALSA a long time ago.
