Slackware's Single User Mode requires root password too?

I've read up on single user mode. I'm given this impression that single user mode doesnt require any password at all.

I tried out single user mode just now and Im prompted for the root password.

I guess it's a feature of slackware?

Don't know if it's a feature of Slackware's, but it can easily be circumvented. Just append
Code:
root=/dev/hd<wherever your root partition is> init=/bin/bash
at the boot prompt, and you'll be given a shell.

It's not a Slackware feature. Even in Ubuntu, once you set a root password (instead of relying on thier exclusive use of 'sudo'), you will be prompted for the admin pass during a single mode boot. If it remains unset it will not be asked and the user is dropped into a shell prompt with root privileges.
