slack9.0 install question


when im installing. how long should it take to do a quick format on a new HDD for 40 gigs?

About 5-10 minutes depending on how fast your harddrive is.

But if its a new drive, you shouldn't have to format it. You can just update the partition information. Which takes seconds.

I've formated a 40 gig 7200rpm with ext3 in under five minutes. It doesn't take long at all.
