Slack-current 2.6.26.5-smp kernel quirk (6/19/07)

The boot sequence with the 2.6.26.5-smp kernel hangs while probing ide1 until "enter" is keyed. Booting with the 2.6.26.3-smp kernel starts normally. This is on a Gateway E3600 1.5GHz machine. Relevant section from dmesg

Quote:
@lnxsrv1:~# uname -a
Linux lnxsrv1 2.6.21.5-smp i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

hda: cache flushes not supported

The value for delta in the clocksource line depends on how long before "enter" is keyed. The comparable section from a 2.6.21.3-smp boot sequence is as follows:

Quote:
Linux lnxsrv1 2.6.21.3-smp i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.50GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

hda: 40021632 sectors (20491 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=39704/16/63, UDMA(100)
hda: cache flushes not supported
hda: hda1 hda2 hda3
What is going on with "clocksource"?
