slack 11, SMP kernel, no ethernet or sound

I have my other system with 2 P3 800's, installed the 2.6.17.13-smp kernel, and the kernel modules. installed the 2.6.17.13 source from the extra directory, configured everything, my sound and ethernet do not, and refuse to work. can I install the modules from the normal kernel 2.6.17.13 folder, or will that mess things up?

Thanks

It depends. If the kernel from the other system is a non smp kernel then that may not work. During build some modules if using smp to build in are built a bit differently. Not sure on how many so can't say for sure.

Worst case is rename the current smp modules directory and copy over the others.

Just to make sure what commands in sequence did you use to build the kernel?

And I assume you enabled the modules for the devices in the config?
