Slack 12 install problem - stops at loading packages
Hi,
I tied to install DVD slack 12, but after seting up /, sw, other partitions, choosing all pakages, and starting installation, at the piont when loading packages, installation stops.
I tried several times and installation stops after starting install, on packages loading, but not on same place, every time on different package, sometimes after 2 minuts, sometimes after 4 minuts from start.
I done MD5 check on DVD media, and it is OK.
I set my computer to default setting ( prevoiusly it was overclocked ), but behaviour is the same.
What should I do ?
Sempron Le-1100, Biostar NF-520, 1 GB TakeMS DDR2 800, Maxtor 160 GB SATA2, ASUS E616 DVD-ROM and Samsung S203B DVD-RW
Sorry for missing place for posting this, please transfer to Slackware installation subfolder
I forgot to write that I have several partitions, 2 NTFS, 2 ext3, one swap.
At first try I tried to install on one of these 2 ext3 partitions, 5 GB size, and set the other for /home, did not work.
Then I merged this 2 ext3 partitions to one 10 GB ext3 and installation failed again.

Would you please post your partition table from fdisk.
I had the same Problem installing Bluewhite64 last week. It turned out that one of my RAM-modules was broken. While installing packages I got errormessages about a bad installationmedium. I suggest to make memorycheck with a live-CD i.e. slax. More information about my problem you'll find here: http://www.bluewhite64.com/e107_plug...topic.php?2913
The Slackware 12.2 install can appear to hang on the gutenprint package. It's actually making progress, it's just that there is no visible indication of progress. I experienced that myself with a 750 MHz processor. It took about eight minutes to install gutenprint with no visible activity. I don't know what's taking all that time. Uncompressing files? Creating lots and lots of little files? Your guess is as good as mine.
I posted into the post referenced by David with a different problem than the gutenberg "hang". In my case I could sometimes get the install started again by hitting return. Does that happen in your case? If so, I'll tell you what I did to get it installed.
