Slack 10.2 and SB Live and snd-emu10k1

I'm running slackware 10.2 and I have a SBLive card...

How do I get snd-emu10k1 to load rather than just plain emu10k1?

root@mail:/usr/src/linux# modprobe snd-emu10k1
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.29/modules.dep
modprobe: Can't locate module snd-emu10k1

/etc/modules.conf is blank

but modprobe emu10k1 will load...

this is what is in my /lib/modules/2.4.29/kernel/drivers/sound/

2.4.29 is the 10.1 kernel.
Type "uname -r" to see which kernel you are REALLY running.

How did you get 2.4.29 kernel? Did you upgrade Slackware 10.1 install into 10.2?

Run lilo as root, then reboot and uname -r again.

Download newest alsa-drivers (my suggestion: all alsa packages) and compile them for your kernel. You should get your driver. Otherwise, you can upgrade to Slackware 10.2 and check if the driver can be loaded there.
