Question Slack 10.2 and FTP failure

I just made a clean 10.2 install with SSL and mysql, ProFTP as a standalone. Using webmin for administration things are fine from that vantage. I have a problem I haven't come across before.

Logging in to a user account with Cuteftp as a client all the directories show up as empty flatfiles and no files show up as follows:

**********************************************
cgi-bin 00/00/00 0:00
homes 00/00/00 0:00
logs 00/00/00 0:00
public-html 00/00/00 0:00
ssl.cert 00/00/00 0:00
ssl.key 00/00/00 0:00
**********************************************
You can page up the tree with an updirectory, but not downward. Not sure if this a mysql ownership issue (this is my first stab at mysql also) or what. This is my first stab at 10.2, everything else is running 10.0 and working fine. Has this come up anywhere else?

Does it happen with other clients too?
