skipping flash

ok so im still very new to slackware... shaking free of the shackles of ubuntu... hehe.

the problem im having is getting flash to play with firefox. it works but at random points during the playback of whatever the video freezes and the audio starts skipping. i have flash 9 beta installed using firefox 1.5. not sure if this is what happens if i dont enable DMA or if it is something else. i remember having to enable DMA for ubuntu but that was like once or twice back when breezy was just out. i dont remember how to do it or even check to see if i need to at all.

oh and how do you upgrade packages? like firefox 1.5 to 2.0 or even slackware itself for updates?

i really want to learn linux and i heard slackware was the best way so here i am... thanks for any help you guys can give.

You might be having problems with Flash because your using the beta version. Have you tried it with the stable version? Slackware provides no package manager for you. All of that is left up to you. If you would like to have one slapt-get and swaret are both very good. They resolve dependency issues and such for you.
