Tnx.

I did try that and the kernel loaded fine, BUT, then when it came to selection I found out that the keyboard and mouse are not working and I could not continue with installation.

Passing nousb would only be good if the conflict is with some other usb device and keyboard and mouse are not usb.

In this case, with usb K&M, it is not an option.

This should further demonstrate the conflict in bare.i kernel of Slack 9.1

boot up with your ps/2 mouse and keyboard and use those to look at your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules

do into the usb section and uncomment some things you see that might be of use (like usb mouse support and such); just sift through it and take out the # from things you want to enable

then go into /etc/rc.d/rc.M and comment hotplug to stop it from loading (do this by putting # in front of everything in the hotplug section)

if u don't want to comment out hotplug, at the lilo prompt, select Slackware but after that selection type "nohotplug" without the quotes (so your lilo prompt should say boot=Slackware9.1 nohotplug; depending on the name you gave to slack)

Tnx TheOneAndOnlySM.

I have already been there and installed using ps/2 k&m but did not get anywhere. Finally after weeks of trying and searching google and asking for help in forums and newgroups; I had to delete everything and start all over again with Slack 9.0

Here it is:

USB keyboard & mouse problem in Slackware 9.1
