screensaver has stopped

I am running Slackware 14.2 with power parameters set to default and a standard kde window manager. The screensaver is set to blank after 7 minutes. It stopped working a few weeks ago. I have tried to reset the screensaver to random, but it too fails, though in the 'preview' mode everything seems to work properly. Can someone suggest what might have changed to cause the lack of a screensaver?

Now that you mention it, I've noticed something similar on current. If I lock it, the screensaver is there. If I let it idle, it'll go blank. Maybe a power setting issue?

I tried resetting power issues to "default" but that did not help.

Actually, I should have said that thew Screen Locker" has stopped working. I had set the locker to invoking the screen saver. I have just reset the locker to "simple" to see if that will work.

Solved without a real answer. I rebooted the machine and everything is once more working. I guess a daemon had stopped, but was not sure which it is.
