SBLive Value! (only front speakers working)


i am using slackware 9.1, my sound card is SBLive Value, the problem is only two front speakers are working, the rear ones are passive, no sound output from them. whats the problem, how can i correct this?

try searching the forum for sblive or alsa. There are tons of posts. I am sure one of them will help.

If not. Explain in detail what you have tried so far. If we don't know what you have tried, we don't know what to suggest.

You might try the emu10k1 driver from sourceforge, there is a script to edit.
it might just work for you.
be sure to get the emu-tools also.

alsamixer. find wave sourround and unmute it and setup the volume..

after you 're done.

become root [su]
and do
alsactl store [in order to save the volume settings you have]

I just set up my sblive recently and there was a setting in the alsa mixer called something like PCX and when I turned it up the rear speakers started to work.

this may sound odd, but my rear speakers dont work when 'SBLIVE' in alsamixer in UNMUTED. MUTE it and everything works. I think SBLIVE enables digital over analog...so turn it off if you dont have a digital connection.
