Exclamation Root password and stupidity

Hey everyone,
I've been messing with nix for awhile, and I finally got a stable working distro working. The only problem is i can no longer log in as root, i'm assuming I just can't remember my password, but I've already ran through every password i've ever used like 5 times. I was wondering if there was any way to reset the root password or find out what it is. This borders on hacking\cracking I realize, but it's my own box here!

Any help would be appreached

I answered a similar request recently but the originator never responded back to know what the solution was. You could view the thread at the link below.

I believe it will provide the info you are looking for.

a) boot from CD/floppy, mount / filesystem and modify password
b) boot to single user mode (wait for lilo prompt, append "s" to boot parameters) and modify password

when booting into your kernel add the line single so If your using lilo and your entry is linux type:
linux single
On the lilo CL, this will boot into a root shell which you can use to change your password, passwd
