The upgrade to

The fix is right now to revert to
xkeyboard-config-2.34-noarch-1.txz of Slackware 15.0 .
Bitten by this right now. Reverted to 2.34 in order to have an usable Wayland.

Code:
Fri Feb 11 01:09:45 UTC 2022
x/xkeyboard-config-2.35.1-noarch-2.txz: Rebuilt.
Perhaps upstream didn't mean to move these files (or perhaps we should have
recompiled everything that looks for these), but they did switch to meson,
and the 'xkb-base' option to set the data directory doesn't work. Anyway,
I've placed a symlink at /etc/X11/xkb and that fixes the problem.
Thanks to Petri Kaukasoina and LuckyCyborg.

Using the symlink as a stop-gap is fine, but hopefully he'll rebuild the affected components to look in the right place soon.
I don't like seeing a kludge like this left in for very long: they tend to get forgotten about and left in even after they're no longer needed.
Yes, that probably doesn't matter. I can just be a bit of a OCD neat-freak on things like this.

Since this will probably be more and more off-topic
Perhaps we could use this thread for other investigations or remarks.

Package 'xkbcomp' need rebuild without this option '--with-xkb-config-root=/etc/X11/xkb', because the default path option is good.
(--with-xkb-config-root=<paths>
Set default XKB config root (default:
${datadir}/X11/xkb)

I've checked packages that can be impacted by this option

CONFIG_MODULE_COMPRESS_ZSTD=y
This option compress kernel modules under zstd , with this enabled we can save 50up of modules folder size
250MB to 100MB
I suggest zstd cause is a very light compression but have a good rate of size reduction.
