It's passed the "Works For Me" test

Hi,Robby. I loaded the packages & now USB thumb drives are no longer automagically mounted. They are there, "fdisk -l" sees them, & I can mount them from the command line, but they don't show up on my KDE desktop. Everything works well with the -current HAL packages & with the GSlacky HAL packages. It only takes changing the HAL packages, dbus makes no difference.
Edit: I have (inadvertently) discovered that if I leave the thumb drive plugged in, log out & back in, then the icon appears on the desktop. BTW, CDs/DVDs are mounted & have icons, regardless of which HAL package is installed.

Robby, I tested these and everything appears to work great. I added and removed my user from groups and dbus picked up the changes automagically. Mounting usb sticks and CDs worked fine. I burned a CDR and that worked fine too.

Hi Robby - works here too.

I booted then plugged in my FreeAgent Go (usb hd) with 2 partitions - ext3 and ntfs - both partition were mounted automaticaly, opened via konqueror, and I had read/write ability in the ntfs partition as user. This drive has no entries in fstab. I'm using ntfs-utils from current.

Can't find any breakage yet.

Some of the optimization patches to make event processing go in parallel instead of serial broke this. sjoerd is working on it, and they're going to release an rc2 as soon as possible.

Where should I look for the rc2? BTW, I will be unavailable for a few days starting Weds. I get a new right hip that morning & maybe, a few days later, will be able to walk without it hurting.

Did it use ntfs-3g or it used the kernel ntfs ?

There's a fair chance that they'll back out the parallel event processing patches; if they do, then 0.5.11 will be a safe upgrade. However, if they leave it in with fixes, it's a bit risky IMHO - we'll just have to wait and see...

Probably neither - the ntfsprogs in -current right now will work, but it's got a few issues.
That will be resolved in the next public update to -current though

Yes, i agree with Robby. It does have issues.
i tried to mount an NTFS partition using ntfsmount and start writing data to it. When i unmount, the disk is no longer detected by Windows anymore. Strange...
I'm quite lucky it has no data in it

0.5.11rc2 is out, with the parallel event processing stuff removed; they're going to work on getting it right for the next release.
